Privacy

Black Ace Cards ("we") makes privacy playing cards and is preparing to launch them on Kickstarter. This page explains what we collect through blackacecards.com, why, who helps us handle it, and how to have it changed or deleted. Questions go to hello@blackacecards.com.
What we collect
- When you sign up: your email address, the time you signed up, the IP address you signed up from, and the six-character access code we generate from your email. The IP address and time are our record that you asked to hear from us.
- If you pay the $1 reservation: Stripe processes the payment. We receive your email address, the amount, and whether the payment succeeded or was refunded. We never see or store your card number.
- When we email you: our email provider records whether each email was delivered, opened, or clicked.
- In your own browser: the site keeps your email address, and whether you reserved, in your browser's local storage, so your credential is still there when you come back. That copy stays on your device. Clearing this site's data removes it.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not sell or share your personal information with anyone for their own marketing.
Why we use it
- To email you the Kickstarter link on launch day, and a small number of updates about the campaign before and during it.
- To honour your $1 reservation, send you the reserved tier's link, and refund it if you ask.
- To keep records the law requires for payments, and to keep the signup form from being abused.
If you are in the UK or the EU: we email you because you asked us to (consent), we handle the reservation to do what you paid for (contract), and we keep payment and security records because we have to (legal obligation) or have a legitimate interest in preventing fraud.
Who handles it for us
- MailerLite stores the email list and sends our emails.
- Stripe processes the $1 reservation.
- Vercel hosts this site and runs the signup form.
- Cloudflare runs our domain and forwards mail sent to our address.
These companies may process data in the United States. Each is bound by its own terms to protect it and to use it only to provide its service to us. When you back the campaign on Kickstarter, Kickstarter's own privacy policy covers what you give them.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Once the campaign's rewards have shipped, we delete the signup list unless you have chosen to stay on it. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your choices
- Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. One click takes you off the list.
- Email hello@blackacecards.com to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We answer within 30 days.
- If you are in the UK or the EU and are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to your data protection authority, which in the UK is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use an address we already hold, we will tell you by email first.
